An 18-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in southeast Modesto — the seventh homicide in the city this year and the third in nine days. Police say the latest killing may be gang-related.
Officers responded to Japonica Way and Lincoln Avenue about 9:55 p.m. Monday after a report of shots fired, said Sgt. Brian Findlen, the police spokesman. They found the teen inside a vehicle near the intersection. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's identify has not been released pending notification of next of kin. No arrests have been made.
